EFCC Warns Skit Makers Against Unauthorized Use of Name, Logo, Uniform Or Likeness

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has warned skit makers and other content creators to stop using its name, logo, uniforms, and other official identifiers in their productions without authorisation.

In a statement released on Saturday, the commission expressed concern over the growing trend of online creators depicting the agency in comedy skits and digital content, noting that such portrayals are often inaccurate and misleading. It stressed that it has not granted approval to any individual or group to use its identity for entertainment or promotional purposes.

The agency further clarified that it does not endorse or support any content featuring its insignia or likeness without prior written consent. It urged those involved in the practice to immediately desist, warning that continued violations could attract legal action.

According to the commission, the misuse of its identity not only distorts its operations but also poses a risk to public trust, as it may encourage impersonation and related fraudulent activities.

The development comes amid increasing scrutiny of how public institutions are represented across digital platforms, particularly within Nigeria’s fast-growing online content space.
