Insecurity Won’t End My Presidency, I’ll Still Run for Second Term — Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said that rising insecurity across Nigeria will not force him out of office, as he reaffirmed his intention to seek a second term ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The President made the remarks while receiving political stakeholders, including Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, amid growing concerns over security challenges in parts of the country.

Addressing the issue, Tinubu dismissed suggestions that insecurity could threaten his presidency, stating: “You are playing to the hand of agents, including my own enemies, who want to use insecurity to get rid of me.”

He further emphasized his resolve to remain in office despite mounting criticism, adding: “I’m a very stubborn politician. I just refuse to go. And I will campaign for my second term.”

The remarks come at a time when Nigeria continues to grapple with attacks, kidnappings, and other forms of violence in several regions, raising concerns among citizens and political observers.

Analysts say security is likely to be a major issue in the lead-up to the 2027 elections, as voters assess the government’s response to ongoing threats.

Despite the criticism, Tinubu has maintained that his administration is taking steps to strengthen security operations and address the challenges facing the country.
