Nigeria is Now Working Again — Shettima Lists Signs of Economic Recovery

Vice President Kashim Shettima has said that Nigeria is now working again”, as he continues to defend the economic direction of the current administration and its ongoing reforms.

He made the remark at a recent public economic engagement, where he argued that Nigeria’s economy is gradually stabilising after a period of significant disruption.

According to him, the administration’s policy choices, particularly reforms in the subsidy regime and broader fiscal adjustments, are aimed at correcting long-standing structural challenges.

Shettima maintained that although the decisions have come with short-term hardship for citizens, they are necessary steps toward rebuilding confidence in the economy and restoring long-term growth.

He explained that investor interest and financial market performance are beginning to reflect early signs of recovery.

In his words, Nigeria is now working again.” He used the statement to emphasise what he described as improving economic coordination, renewed investor confidence, and a clearer policy direction under the current government.

He further noted that sustainable economic recovery depends on consistency in policy and the willingness to make difficult but necessary reforms.
