Police to Arraign Adeniyi Adeyemi Over Alleged Fake Agency Scam on Tuesday

The Nigeria Police Force is set to arraign the self-acclaimed Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Adeniyi Adeyemi, before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday over allegations bordering on forgery, impersonation and related offences.

Adeyemi, alongside two other defendants, is expected to take his plea on an eight-count charge filed by the police. The case, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025, was instituted by police prosecutor Wisdom Madaki on November 27, 2025.

The arraignment was initially scheduled for June 16 but was postponed after Adeyemi was reported to be ill. Justice Mohammed Umar subsequently adjourned the matter to Tuesday for the defendants to be formally arraigned.

The charges stem from an investigation into the activities of the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, an organisation the Presidency has described as non-existent.

According to the Presidency, investigations by the police found that Adeyemi allegedly forged an appointment letter and other official documents, falsely presented himself as the head of the council, and used the documents to gain access to government institutions. It also alleged that he fraudulently secured the opening of a Central Bank of Nigeria account through the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, although no public funds were paid into the account.

The Presidency further claimed that Adeyemi operated several bank accounts linked to the alleged fictitious agency and held meetings with diplomats and public officials while presenting himself as a federal government appointee.

The case has attracted significant public attention in recent weeks after allegations emerged linking forged documents bearing the name and signature of the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, to the purported council.

Gbajabiamila has denied any connection to Adeyemi or the organisation, insisting that his signature and official documents were forged. Through his legal team, the Chief of Staff has also demanded a public retraction of allegations made against him and threatened a ₦10 billion defamation suit if they are not withdrawn.

Meanwhile, Adeyemi has maintained that he committed no wrongdoing and has said he would defend himself before the court.
