Tinubu Congratulates Oyebanji on Re-election, Hails Ekiti Voters’ Conduct

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji on his re-election victory in Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti State, describing the outcome as a strong vote of confidence in his leadership.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised the people of Ekiti State for what he called their peaceful and orderly conduct during the polls, noting that voters “reposed their trust in Governor Oyebanji” through the ballot.

Tinubu also commended security agencies for maintaining law and order throughout the election period.

He further urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to sustain efforts toward credible elections as the country prepares for upcoming off-cycle polls, including the Osun governorship election and the 2027 general elections.

According to the statement, the President said the election outcome reflects continuity in governance, adding that Oyebanji’s first term recorded “significant strides in infrastructure, agriculture, youth employment, education, healthcare, and rural development” under his administration’s development agenda.

With his re-election, Oyebanji has become the first governor in Ekiti State history to win back-to-back terms, a milestone the President described as a reflection of public approval for his performance.

Tinubu also urged the governor to remain “magnanimous in victory” and to continue carrying all stakeholders along in the task of developing the state.

He added that the Federal Government remains committed to working closely with the Ekiti State Government to deepen development efforts and advance what he called the Renewed Hope Agenda across the country.

The President concluded by praying for wisdom, strength, and good health for the governor as he begins another term in office.
