2027: ADC Responds to Tinubu’s “I Can’t Be Intimidated” Remark, Lists Reasons to Fear

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has responded to remarks by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that he cannot be intimidated by opposition figures, saying the current state of the country should be a source of concern for the administration ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said the president’s comments suggested unease rather than confidence.

“The President’s claim that he cannot be intimidated by opposition figures is a reflection of anxiety, not strength,” the statement read.

The ADC argued that worsening economic conditions and insecurity across the country have heightened public dissatisfaction with the government. It noted that many Nigerians are struggling with rising living costs and declining purchasing power.

“Nigerians are facing unprecedented hardship as a result of policies that have made life more difficult for ordinary citizens,” the party stated.

The opposition party further said the security situation remains troubling, with many communities still grappling with violence and criminal activities.

“No government that presides over this level of suffering and insecurity should feel comfortable or dismissive of the people’s concerns,” it added.

ADC maintained that rather than downplaying opposition voices, the Tinubu administration should focus on addressing pressing national challenges. It warned that public sentiment could play a decisive role in the next general elections.

“The real issue is not whether the President feels intimidated, but whether he understands the depth of frustration among Nigerians,” the statement said.

Nigeria is expected to hold its next general elections in 2027, a contest political observers say will largely reflect public judgment on the current administration’s performance.
