Abuja — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that he will not be intimidated by opposition figures ahead of the 2027 general elections, dismissing what he described as a coordinated effort to unseat him.
Tinubu made the remarks while hosting members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors at the Presidential Villa, where he addressed growing political alignments involving key opposition leaders such as Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Nasir El-Rufai.
The President said no form of political pressure or alliance would force him to abandon his agenda, insisting that he remains focused on governance despite what he termed a “gang-up” against his administration.
According to him, attempts to intimidate him would not succeed, as he has faced similar political challenges in the past. He also urged opposition actors to respect democratic processes and abide by judicial decisions.
Tinubu further assured his supporters that he would remain committed to his policies and reforms, describing the current period as crucial to advancing national development and stability.
The comments come amid rising political activity ahead of the 2027 elections, with opposition figures reportedly exploring coalition arrangements, particularly within the African Democratic Congress, in a bid to challenge the ruling party.
The development reflects an early intensification of political positioning as both the presidency and opposition blocs prepare for what is expected to be a highly competitive electoral contest.
