2027: Join NDC Now – Galadima Urges Atiku

A chieftain of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Buba Galadima, has called on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to join the party, warning that failure to do so could undermine opposition efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Galadima made the appeal during a television interview, stressing the need for a united political front to effectively challenge the ruling party in the next election cycle.

According to him, several opposition figures are already gravitating toward the NDC as part of efforts to build a stronger coalition. He argued that continued division among opposition parties could weaken their chances and ultimately favour the incumbents.

Explaining his position, Galadima said, “We are calling on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to come to the NDC so there can be a true level playing field.”

He further warned that failure to align with the emerging coalition could carry political consequences, stating, “If he refuses, Atiku will be held responsible.”

Galadima added that recent developments within opposition circles have made unity more urgent, noting that a single, coordinated platform would improve strategy, strengthen electoral competitiveness, and enhance the chances of success in 2027.

However, allies of Atiku have dismissed suggestions of any planned defection, maintaining that there are no ongoing discussions about him joining the NDC.

Galadima’s statement is coming after Peter Obi and Kwankwaso officially dumped the African Democratic Congress ADC to join the NDC. As a result, many Nigerians who formerly registered with the ADC also resigned and joined the NDC.
