Atiku Secures Massive Win In Sokoto ADC Presidential Primary With 68823 Votes

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar recorded a sweeping victory in the African Democratic Congress presidential primary held in Sokoto State, securing an overwhelming 68,823 votes to defeat other contenders in the race.

The exercise, conducted across the 23 local government areas of the state, saw Atiku dominate the polls by a wide margin, leaving his closest challengers far behind. Former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi polled 292 votes, while businessman and economist Mohammed Hayatu-Deen secured 319 votes.

Announcing the outcome at the ADC secretariat in Sokoto, Returning Officer Professor Aminu Abubakar declared Atiku winner after emerging with what he described as the “highest lawful votes” cast during the exercise.

According to officials, a total of 69,434 votes were recorded during the primary election, which was monitored by party stakeholders, electoral observers, and security personnel.

The primary attracted delegates and party members from different parts of Sokoto State and was reportedly conducted peacefully without major disruptions.

Several top party figures were present during the collation and announcement of results, including former Sokoto State governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and other senior ADC stakeholders.

Reacting after the exercise, party officials praised the orderly conduct of delegates and commended security agencies for maintaining calm throughout the accreditation, voting, and collation processes.
