Nigerian socialite and relationship influencer Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, has reacted emotionally to the reported death of Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo, expressing anger and frustration over cancer after reports emerged that the actor allegedly died following a private battle with the illness.
In a post shared on Instagram, Blessing CEO rebuked the disease, writing, “God will punish cancer,” while mourning the actor’s passing.
Her reaction joined the wave of tributes pouring in from fans, colleagues and other public figures across the entertainment industry.
Her statement quickly sparked mixed reactions online because of the controversy that previously surrounded her own cancer claims.
Months earlier, Blessing CEO had announced online that she was battling stage 4 cancer and appealed for support from followers.
However, the claim later became controversial after several Nigerians questioned the authenticity of the medical documents she shared publicly.
The matter escalated after the Nigerian Medical Association, Delta State chapter, reportedly disowned a histology report linked to her, alleging that the document had been altered from the original result belonging to another patient identified as Deborah Mbara, a cancer survivor.
Deborah Mbara also accused Blessing CEO of using her medical report without permission after allegedly approaching her privately for cancer-related advice.
The controversy later attracted reactions from the Nigerian Cancer Society and other public figures, with concerns raised about the effect false health claims could have on genuine patients seeking public support.
Amid the backlash, Blessing CEO later clarified that she did not have stage 4 cancer and described the earlier reports as a misunderstanding.
Meanwhile, reports surrounding Alexx Ekubo’s death began circulating online on Tuesday night, with several fellow actors and family confirming the heartbreaking news.
The actor died at the age of 40 after battling liver cancer privately.
Alexx Ekubo was widely known in Nollywood for his roles in romantic and comedy films and had built a strong fanbase over the years because of his calm personality and screen presence.
As of the time of filing this report, reactions continue to trail the development online, with many Nigerians expressing shock over the news.
