Delta Police Release Emergency Numbers, Urge Residents to Save Them

The Delta State Police Command has advised residents to keep the command’s control room emergency numbers readily available to ensure prompt access to assistance during emergencies.

The Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Bright Edafe, gave the advice in a post shared on X on Friday, stressing that members of the public should not rely solely on contacting individual police officers during critical situations.

According to him, emergencies often occur at odd hours when an officer known to a caller may not be on duty or could be unavailable, leading to delays in obtaining help.

“When you are in distress, possibly at midnight, and you call a policeman you know, who probably may not be on duty and could be sleeping by that time, you will say I called the police, no response,” Edafe stated.

He urged residents across the country to save the emergency contact numbers of their respective state police commands, as well as the phone numbers of Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in their areas.

However, he noted that the most effective number to call during an emergency remains the police command’s control room line.

Edafe subsequently shared the Delta State Police Command’s emergency contact numbers, encouraging residents to keep them handy and use them whenever urgent police intervention is required.

The emergency numbers released by the command are 08036684974, 08114895600 and 08025666914.

The police spokesperson said the measure would help improve response times and ensure that distress calls reach officers on duty who are positioned to coordinate immediate assistance.

He reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and urged the public to make proper use of the emergency lines whenever the need arises.
