The Kano State Government has announced a temporary closure of all public and private primary and secondary schools in the state to mark the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
According to the Ministry of Education, the Sallah holiday for schools is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. Parents and guardians of students in boarding schools are advised to pick up their children on the same date.
The ministry stated that academic activities will resume on Sunday, June 15, 2025, while day students are expected to resume on Monday, June 16, 2025.
Officials explained that the break is part of the approved academic calendar and is meant to allow students, teachers, and families to fully participate in the Eid festivities without disrupting the school schedule.
The statement also reassured stakeholders that the holiday does not affect other parts of the academic calendar, and schools are expected to resume normal activities immediately after the break.
The Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Makoda, expressed appreciation to parents and guardians for their cooperation and wished students a peaceful and joyful Sallah celebration.
