Popular Nigerian socialite and businessman, Pascal Okechukwu, better known as Cubana Chief Priest, has revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu does not fully trust him due to his ethnic background and his past political involvement.
He made the statement during a live online conversation with streamer Peller, where he spoke about his political journey, especially his shift from supporting Labour Party candidate Peter Obi in the 2023 general elections to aligning with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to him, his previous political stance continues to influence how he is perceived within Tinubu’s political circle.
He said:
“Let me tell you, as I am now, Tinubu doesn’t really trust me as an Igbo man. He looks at me with one eye. He is still like ‘this one that has worked for Peter Obi before’.”
Chief Priest explained that his earlier involvement in Obi’s campaign is the main reason for the perceived distrust, even though he now supports Tinubu and the APC political structure.
He also noted that political loyalty in Nigeria is often judged by past affiliations, adding that switching sides does not always erase previous records in the eyes of political actors.
