The Nigeria Police Force has disowned a purported “AFRIPOL 2026” programme currently being circulated online, stating that the event was neither approved nor authorized by the Force.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, said the Police hierarchy had no connection whatsoever with the programme and warned members of the public against engaging with it.
The Police also condemned the unauthorized use of the name “AFRIPOL,” explaining that AFRIPOL is the officially recognized African Union mechanism for police cooperation across the continent and not a platform for private events or unauthorized activities.
According to the statement, the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force did not approve the use of the image of the Inspector-General of Police, the Force logo, or the identity of the institution in connection with the programme.
The Force therefore advised individuals, organizations, and corporate bodies to disregard the publication and avoid any sponsorship, payment, or participation related to the event.
The statement reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to protecting the integrity of its institution and cautioned against the misuse of official identities and symbols for unauthorized purposes.
