Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have neutralised several suspected Lakurawa terrorists and recovered weapons as well as rustled livestock during coordinated operations in Sokoto and Katsina states.

According to a statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for 8 Division and Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, troops responded to a distress call over an attempted attack on a Nigerian Immigration Service facility at Ruwa Wiri Village in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The troops reportedly engaged members of the Lakurawa Terrorist Group in a gun battle, killing two suspects while others escaped under heavy military firepower.

Following the operation, soldiers recovered two AK-47 rifles, ammunition, and a motorcycle from the scene.

In a separate operation in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State, troops on fighting patrol intercepted suspected terrorists moving with herds of rustled livestock around Danya Bakwai Settlement.

The military said the troops opened fire on the criminals, forcing them to flee and abandon 62 rustled animals. The recovered livestock were later handed over to their rightful owners at the palace of the Daddara District Head in Jibia.

The Army reaffirmed that Operation FANSAN YAMMA remains committed to combating terrorism and banditry across the region, while urging residents to continue providing credible intelligence to security agencies.
