Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 12 Brigade have recorded another operational success against suspected terrorists operating in Kogi State after a coordinated ambush operation in the Adankolo Forest Reserve area of Lokoja Local Government Area.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for 12 Brigade, the operation was carried out following credible intelligence on the movement of suspected terrorists within the area.
The statement explained that troops from the 12 Brigade Quick Response Group laid an ambush at a suspected crossing point in the early hours of May 10, 2026.
During the operation, soldiers reportedly engaged the terrorists in a gun battle, killing one of the suspects while others escaped into the surrounding bush with gunshot wounds.

Items recovered after the encounter included two AK-47 rifles, one locally fabricated pistol, six magazines, and 145 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

Troops also recovered a camouflage bandolier, one Honda motorcycle, Diclofenac medication, three mobile phones, three power banks, and the sum of ₦62,900.

The Army said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts under Operation TIGER PAW II aimed at denying criminal elements freedom of movement and improving security across Kogi State and nearby communities.
Military added that troops are currently carrying out follow-up operations in the area to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
